What to expect

Originally a military fortress, Terezín, built in the 18th century by Emperor Joseph II, is inextricably linked to the history of World War II. The more famous Great Fortress - the city of Terezín, served as a concentration camp for Jews from all over Europe and was misused for Nazi propaganda purposes during the visit of the Red Cross organization in 1944. The lesser known, the Little Fortress, was a cruel prison of the Reich secret police (Gestapa). If you are interested in the history of World War II and the Holocaust, come with us to visit the Small Fortress of Terezín and the museums located in the Great Fortress.
